AIEEE 2011–Best of Luck and final tips
After IITJEE 2011 is over, now it is AIEEE 2011. There is no doubt that AIEEE is equally important. Those who are not spending at least 10-12 hours a day are idiots. AIEEE exam is race against time. You would know enough questions that you can keep yourself busy during the exam. So those who could not perform in JEE, have another chance to show worth of the hard work done in last 2 years.
I thought of recording a short video to give you some tips. Then I realized whatever I wanted to say is already there in the video I recorded for AIEEE 2010. Following is the link in case you want some last moment tips.
Some of the tips that would be important are:
1. Study 10-12 hrs everyday in the remaining days.
2. Take at least one time-bound AIEEE test everyday.
3. Don’t solve any difficult question in the remaining days as most of the questions in AIEEE exam would be easy or average.
4. Throw IITJEE out of your mind. Now it is just AIEEE.
5. In exam, don’t waste time in thinking how to solve. If you don’t know the solution, skip to next question. There are enough questions to be solved.
6. Read topics which were not part of JEE syllabus. Don’t leave any topic untouched.

What rank I can expect in IITJEE 2011 result?
This year we decided not to publish rank speculation data which can be used to calculate your expected rank in IITJEE 2011. Generally every year some students refer these speculations and do wrong estimation of their ranks. When the result is out, even though they score decent ranks, they feel depressed. I know examples where students who scored rank in top 500 were not happy because they were expecting better.
But there are lots of request to publish this data. So finally we decided to publish this though these are just speculations.
To speculate your rank it is important that you remember your attempts in exam and you have gone through solutions and answer keys available at various sites. You can download detailed solutions from 100percentile or Vidyamandir website.
While calculating your marks it is advised to you that you should not include partial marks and also don’t include those for which you are not sure what you marked in the exam.
About IITJEE 2011 papers
IITJEE 2011 exams were more scoring than last year. Physics was definitely easy and scoring. Mathematics had tricky questions but it was easier to score this year as compared to last few years. This is because there were many typical and easy questions which helped students build a flow which was never possible in earlier years. Chemistry was easy but again little tricky. So, overall all three papers were more scoring than last year papers. Hence students need to score more marks to get similar ranks this year.
Based on our experience, calculations and last year rank data provided by IIT, we have made a following table to guide you what rank you can expect.

There will be a class on hyperbola on Friday, 25th March at 5.00 PM for 2011 extended students and 2012 students. 2011 students who have already done hyperbola need not attend this class.

Matrices and Determinants Class 2
Earlier link was not working. So I updated the link.
Earlier I was planning to record this class. But there are so many students who are requesting me to take a webinar. So I have decided to teach it online instead of recording the video. Those who would not be able to attend can see recording. In this class, I will discuss Adjoint, Inverse, solving equations, INE-B, OSE and Subjective examples based on matrices.
The students of X2 batch are also welcome to attend this class. But it is necessary that they should have seen the video of Class-1 prior to this class.

Problem solving class on Permutation and Combination

Those who will not be able to attend the class can see the recording later. There is NO parallel class in VMC on Saturday. So those who don’t have computer or internet at home can visit VMC on Sunday (20 Feb) at 3.00 PM to see the recording of the class.
2011 batch students are also welcome to attend this class or see the recording later. Most of the questions I will be discussing were never discussed in 2011 batches. So if they are interested, they can join in.
I will be discussing INE, OSE, subjective examples in the class. Very difficult and easy questions will be eliminated. If you want me to discuss some specific questions, please leave a comment here. Those who have already SMS me their questions, need not post them again.

Class on Matrices and Determinant–Change of plan and schedule
As you know I was planning to take a class on Matrices and Determinant on 13th January. But now this class on Matrices and Determinant is cancelled as there is change in the plan.
For solving problems in matrices it is must that you should be very thorough on properties of the matrices and all types of matrices. I just don’t want to start solving problems without knowing whether you have learnt the theory.
There are some people who don’t want to attend theory class. So I have decided to record theory in 3-4 videos on theory and you can chose which part you want to attend.
I will upload recording of these theory session between Thursday to Sunday. You need to learn and practice all these sessions in written.
We will have problem solving class next week. I will inform about the new date and time on the blog as well as edmodo.com
